No, really, I was. I was told 'Why bother. I can see the label on the picture'. Said label would be my watermark, which states my name and a link to this account. I messaged the user and got a bit mouthy because I'm tired of people being retarded and claiming I'm an art thief simply because I upload only watermarked photographs to other websites. Here is what I had to say:


"Dude, the "label" in the middle of the picture is called a watermark. Which, by the way, has my first and last name on it and the link to my deviant art account. If you are indeed trying to accuse me of art theft, you're severely mistaken. I have no reason to steal my own photographs, especially not ones with my cat in them. Don't believe the picture is mine, message the account where the image is hosted on deviantArt.

But, of course, I link to that account in both the watermark and my description of the picture. If I were an art thief, I wouldn't have bothered doing that, now would I have? But I'm not a thief and I have proof that I'm not. Now, if you want to report me for uploading a picture that actually belongs to me, go ahead, but I more than enough to prove that I'm not a thief and that that picture does, indeed, belong to me. But, if you still believe I'm lying, do what you're supposed to do when you come across an art thief and report me."

I know it sounds like I'm being a total a**, but that's because I am. Art thieves get away with theft everyday because they take pictures without watermarks and claim them as their own. And then, when a user actually uploads an image to -insert website here- with a watermark on it, they get accused of stealing. I would think people would get smart and start watermarking their work before uploading it anywhere, but I guess that's just too much work for everyone. *frown*
